Your appointment ended with a number and a date six months out.
You can’t watch your numbers. They’re inside your body.
Here’s what you can actually do with the six months.

What are you going to do with the time in between?
They told you to watch your numbers.
Your numbers are inside your body. You can’t see them, feel them, or check on them.
You left with a sheet of paper and a plan to look at it again later. That’s not a plan. That’s a date.
You eat pretty well. You move. You keep your appointments. Nobody handed you anything to do between now and then.
Here is a practical way to do something with the time before your next appointment.
This isn’t about replacing medical care. It’s about the part that’s actually up to you.

Nobody handed you this list at the appointment, so here it is.
Aim for 30g a day, with particular attention to breakfast.
Think of it as a daily budget under 10 grams, not a list of forbidden foods.
Protect the habit that makes every other part of the plan easier.
Walk daily and get your heart rate up regularly.

It doesn’t do the other four for you. It’s just the one that fits in ten seconds. Two capsules a day.
See why the extract mattersEvery part of the plan asks something of you. Planning. Choices. Time. The patience to keep going when nothing visible is happening.

Requires planning.

Requires choices.

Requires time.

Requires consistency.
But not every part has to be hard.
Your health routine should fit your life. Your life should not revolve around your health routine.
You are already doing the harder things. Changing what you eat. Moving more. Paying closer attention. Trying to build habits you can actually keep.
Adding Citrus Bergamot to your routine takes about ten seconds.
Two capsules a day, done.
One more practical base covered. One more thing you can actually do. Then get back to your day.

Citrus bergamot has been the subject of published human research. A bitter Italian fruit with a surprisingly long research trail.
Studies have examined cholesterol, blood lipids, blood sugar, and related metabolic markers.
Two capsules a day. No new recipes, no new schedule, and nothing to give up.

You are already doing the harder parts. This one takes seconds.
Citrus Bergamot is rich in polyphenols, natural plant compounds that interact with important systems in the body. Five stand out in the research:
Each brings something different to the picture. Naringin and neohesperidin have been studied for their role in cholesterol and fat metabolism, while brutieridin and melitidin are especially distinctive to bergamot because of their unusual structure.

Your liver makes most of the cholesterol in your body, using an enzyme with an unglamorous name: HMG-CoA reductase. In laboratory research, bergamot extract reduced the amount of that enzyme inside liver cells.*
AMPK is the switch your cells use to decide whether to burn energy or store it. In laboratory research, bergamot polyphenols activated it.*
You don’t only make cholesterol. You absorb some of it, through a transporter called NPC1L1. Think of it as a doorway. In laboratory research, the bergamot polyphenol brutieridin reduced how much got through.*
More than one pathway is why researchers kept looking into Citrus Bergamot for heart health.
*Laboratory and human research on the ingredient. Not a statement about what this product will do for any individual.
Warning:
The extract matters more than the milligrams.
Two bottles can both say “citrus bergamot” and contain very different things. Where the fruit grew. Which extract. How it was pulled out of the fruit. Whether anyone outside the company ever checked.
A big number on the front of a bottle tells you none of that.

Most people leave the appointment thinking about a single figure.
Your lipid panel isn’t one number. It’s a set of them, and the relationship between them is the part your clinician is actually reading.
That’s part of why researchers studying bergamot looked at more than LDL alone.
Ask your clinician what your full panel says. Bring questions. That’s what participating looks like.
A specification is what a supplier promises. A test result is what an independent lab found in the actual material.

I’m the founder of Nourishing Nutrients. And one question I get asked all the time is:
You’ve probably tasted it already. Bergamot is the citrus that gives Earl Grey its smell.
It’s a small, bitter fruit from southern Italy, and for centuries people wanted it for the oil in its peel. Perfume, tea, not much else.
Then researchers looked past the peel oil at what’s inside the fruit: polyphenols. And the story got more interesting.
A headline milligram number does not tell you where the fruit came from, which extract was used, how it was made, or what was verified.

The extract used in published human research, not a generic standardized to a higher percentage of something nobody studied.
Named on the certificate. Not “Italian-inspired.”
Water. That’s the whole solvent list.
Independently assayed, against a 70% specification.
By an outside lab, not the supplier.
The finished product is certified USDA Organic.

Five characteristic bergamot polyphenols:
Milligrams of capsule is not milligrams of what you came for.

Citrus bergamot grows commercially in very few places. Calabria, the toe of Italy, is the one most associated with it.
Origin is one part of the story. A named extract, a published standard, a disclosed extraction method, and an independent test are the rest. We’d rather show you all five than shout one.

Bergamot is a citrus fruit, best known outside of supplements for giving Earl Grey tea its distinctive aroma. It grows well in only a few places in the world. Researchers became interested in it because of the plant compounds inside the fruit, called polyphenols.
Calabria, in the far south of Italy, is the region most closely associated with commercial bergamot cultivation and with the bergamot used in much of the published research. Our raw material is sourced from Calabria, and the origin is documented on our specifications. Origin alone is not the whole story; what ends up in the extract still matters.
Polyphenols are naturally occurring plant compounds. Bergamot contains its own particular group of them, and those are the compounds researchers have studied. When a bergamot extract is standardized, the polyphenol content is what is being measured and held to a specification.
It means each batch of the raw material is made to hit a defined level of the compounds that matter, rather than varying from harvest to harvest. Without standardization, two bottles listing the same milligrams can contain meaningfully different material.
Our bergamot raw material is produced using water as the extraction solvent. We publish that because extraction method is one of the things a label almost never tells you.
Yes. The finished product is USDA Organic certified.
Yes. An independent lab assayed our material at 79% total polyphenols, against a 70% minimum specification.
60 capsules per bottle.
Two capsules daily. Follow the directions on your bottle.
We won’t give you a date. Research findings are group averages, and a supplement isn’t a schedule. What we can tell you is what’s in the capsule, and what an independent lab found in it.
We can’t tell you that, and nobody honestly can. Citrus Bergamot helps maintain cholesterol levels already within the normal range. What it does for you is between you, your habits, and your clinician.
That’s a question for the person who knows your history and everything else you take. Talk to your healthcare professional, and don’t stop or change a prescribed medication on your own.

You can’t control every number on that sheet. You can control the habits you build and the questions you bring to the next appointment.
Six months from now, you’ll be back on that exam table either way.
